The Connection Between Body and Emotions

This guide will help you prepare for our upcoming meeting (a psychosomatic session with me) and start tuning in to your inner world — noticing sensations, emotions, and thoughts your body may be expressing.
Awareness often begins even before therapy itself — simply by observing what is happening inside.
You don’t need to answer every question in detail; just notice what resonates with you.

🔹 1. The Story of Your Symptom

When did this symptom or diagnosis first appear?

What was happening in your life at that time — at work, in relationships, or within your family? Were there stressful events, losses, conflicts, or internal tension?

How has the symptom changed over time — do you notice periods of relief or aggravation?

What do you think might have contributed to its appearance?

🔹 2. Your Relationship with the Body

How do you usually relate to your body — with care, with indifference, or with criticism?

Which parts of your body do you feel comfortable with, and which do you tend to reject or dislike?

How do you react when your body is in pain or discomfort? (anger, fear, confusion, shame, helplessness?)

What does the phrase “a healthy body” mean to you personally?

🔹 3. The Symptom as the Body’s Language

If your body could speak through this symptom, what would it say?

What emotions or experiences might “live” in this part of the body?

When does the symptom become stronger — during stress, fatigue, conflict, or in contact with certain people?

Do you ever feel that your body is expressing something you can’t put into words?

🔹 4. Emotional Life

Which emotions are the hardest for you to express or even acknowledge?

How do you usually respond to anger, fear, shame, or a sense of powerlessness?

Have there been times when you “held yourself together” instead of allowing feelings to come through?

What helps you calm down and find a sense of inner balance?

🔹 5. Boundaries and Relationships

Do you sometimes do things “against your will” to avoid upsetting others?

How do you sense your personal boundaries — and what happens when someone crosses them?

In what kinds of situations is it difficult for you to say “no”?

Are there people or topics that seem to make your symptom worse?

🔹 6. Life Rhythm and Stress

How do you rest? Are you able to fully relax and let go of control?

How much of your time goes to work and caring for others — and how much is truly for yourself?

What does the word “peace” mean to you?

Which thoughts or situations create ongoing inner tension for you?

🔹 7. Awareness and Intention

What do you hope to gain from working with psychosomatics?

How would you like to feel in your body a few months from now?

Which changes matter most to you — physical, emotional, or inner?

If this symptom could disappear only after one inner shift — what do you think that shift would be?
